The Homeopathic Consultation
In accordance with the principles of Classical Homeopathy the remedy is always selected by obtaining data from the client via an interview. Preferably this is done on-site, however online interaction (via Skype or WhatsApp) is also possible.
The case has to be analysed and understood in order to carefully select the most appropriate remedy similar to the case; it cannot be selected from any method of testing or automated procedure.
Main Consultation – Case-taking & Prescription (2hours)
The constitutional consultation is aiming at selecting an appropriate remedy similar to the case in order to alleviate or cure a chronic disease or condition. This first consultation is the most important aiming at selecting a remedy that will cover all the problems of the client, the present as well as the past, such as recurring chronic and acute issues manifesting in different ways and never fully resolved. We are looking for a constitutional remedy that is similar to the pattern of the constitution of the client.
The interview is covering all possible characteristics of symptoms and sensations, details of the life story including important events, relations and circumstances relating to the birth, upbringing, family, friends, school, education, work, partners, accidents, diseases, operations, vaccinations, general or local sensitivity to certain food, heat and cold, and more. In short everything that may help to get a full overview and understanding of all the particular characteristics of the case in order to select the appropriate remedy most similar to the case.
I will use a computer, typing in everything that is being talked about, analyse the case, search for possible remedies in a Repertory in the computer program, refer to a Materia Medica and finally select the remedy most similar to the case.
Follow-Up Consultation – Evaluation of Prescription (1.25 hour)
Every constitutional prescription is followed up by a consultation in order to evaluate and monitor the response to the previously prescribed remedy and to determine if further prescription is needed to stimulate the process of cure.
There is usually 4 weeks between the initial consultation and the following consultation.
Acute Consultation – Case-taking & Prescription (0.75 hour)
The acute consultation is aiming at selecting an appropriate remedy similar to the case in order to alleviate or cure an acute disease or condition.
The interview is covering all possible characteristics of symptoms and sensations related to the altered state caused by the acute disease or condition; in short everything that may help to get a full overview and understanding of all the particular characteristics of the acute case in order to select the appropriate remedy most similar to the case.
Every acute prescription, which can change within hours, is followed up by a consultation, often by phone in order to evaluate and monitor the response to the previously prescribed remedy and to determine if the prescription needs to be changed in order to stimulate the process of cure further.
Course of Treatment
How the treatment will progress is in general very individual and depending on the character of the actual problem and whether this is chronic or acute.
